ANDREW RAND, CFA, CFP®, Managing Director, holds the professional designations of Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Financial Planner. Prior to establishing Rand & Associates as an independent Registered Investment Advisory firm, Andrew was a First Vice President at Howe Barnes Hoefer & Arnett, Inc. Andrew had also served as a Director of Deutsche Bank's Private Wealth Management division, formerly Scudder Private Investment Counsel. Earlier in his career, Andrew managed the San Francisco office of Bainco International Investors providing clients with investment management and financial planning services. Andrew began his career as a Certified Public Accountant and also founded Silver Pen Publishing, a niche publishing company in Seattle, WA. Andrew received both his BA and his MBA from the University of Washington, and is an active member of the Financial Planning Association of San Francisco and the CFA Society of San Francisco. When he is not working, Andrew spends his time with his family, traveling, cooking and exploring San Francisco's many great restaurants.
ERIKA DE LA ROSA HENNESSEY is a member of the Portfolio Management Team collaborating on the end-to-end management of client relationships. Prior to joining Rand & Associates, she was a corporate attorney for 16 years with two global law firms in Boston, San Francisco and Mexico City. Her practice initially focused on international transactional matters, later centering on capital markets with special attention to regulatory compliance issues for clients in the financial industry including investment management companies, mutual funds and private equity firms. Erika received a Master of Arts in International Business Law and Economic Development from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, where she was a Fulbright Scholar, and a Ph.D. in Legal and Economic Latin American Studies from Boston University. She holds a degree in Law from the University of Coahuila, Mexico. In her spare time, Erika enjoys exploring the Napa Valley with friends and family, always in search of the next best fruit of the vine.
GARY GETMAN CFP® has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, Gary was a Portfolio Manager at Bingham, Osborn & Scarborough based in San Francisco. Prior to that, most of Gary’s career was with Fidelity Investments. He spent 10 years based out of Fidelity’s Palo Alto office, where he served as a retirement income specialist and senior account executive to 400 clients with over $1.5 billion in assets. In 2009, Gary earned the highest client loyalty score among Fidelity's 300 nationwide account executives. He works directly with clients to create and implement all strategic and financial planning decisions. Gary attended the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He holds the professional designation of Certified Financial Planner. On most evenings you can find Gary listening to music at home.
JIM O'CONNOR, CFA, CFP® has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, Jim was an Investment Analyst at ArrowMark Partners in the firm’s Larkspur, California office. Prior to that, he spent nearly 10 years at San Francisco Bay Area-based Aster Investment Management as both a Research Analyst and Portfolio Manager. Jim is a Portfolio Manager at Rand & Associates. He has a BA from UC Berkeley, an MBA from the University of Southern California and is a member of the CFA Society of San Francisco. Jim enjoys spending his spare time with his wife and two kids but also finds time to play soccer and the guitar.
RUSS ROBERSON has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining the Rand & Associates wealth management team in 2010, Russ spent 17 years at Fidelity Investments. The majority of his Fidelity career was spent in two regional sales positions, Vice President Regional Insurance Consultant and Vice President Regional Planning Consultant. His most recent role at Fidelity was serving as Vice President Senior Account Executive in the Private Client Group at the Marin Investor Center. As a Senior Account Executive, Russ worked with over 400 clients with $1 billion of assets helping them implement wealth management and investment strategies. He has a BS in Finance from the University of Tennessee. Russ is an avid University of Tennessee football fan. He enjoys golf, traveling and spending time with his family.
LAWRENCE ZARTARIAN has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, including more than 20 years working with clients to establish and implement portfolio strategies based on individual client objectives. Larry has been a member of the Rand & Associates wealth management team for over seven years, starting with the team while it was at Howe Barnes Hoefer & Arnett. Prior to that, Larry managed portfolios at Mellon’s Private Wealth Management Group for five years. Larry started his career and eventually became a Partner at Van Deventer & Hoch in San Francisco, where he was an analyst and portfolio manager working with individual and institutional clients. Larry graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Philosophy. In his spare time, one of Larry's passions is collecting, restoring and refurbishing antique coin-operated amusement devices - in particular, electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machines from the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. He serves as the President and Board Chairman of the non-profit Pacific Pinball Museum in Alameda, CA - owners of one of the largest collections of rare EM pinball machines in the world.
ELIZABETH JUSON has over 15 years of financial service experience. Elizabeth manages all aspects of client service, operations, and trading. She also acts as a liaison with all our custodians and is a key member of the financial planning team at Rand & Associates. Elizabeth has been with the Rand & Associates wealth management team since it was formed in 2004 at Howe Barnes Hoefer & Arnett. Prior to that, she was an Investment Associate at Deutsche Bank's Private Wealth Management division, formerly Scudder Private Investment Counsel. She began her career at American Express Financial Advisors as a Financial Planning Analyst, creating financial plans and investment strategies for clients. Elizabeth received her BS at San Francisco State University. Elizabeth is married and has two boys. She enjoys spending time with her family as well as baking bread and pastries.
ELANA BRUTMAN draws on fifteen years of experience on the client service side of the securities industry. She works with the operations team to oversee client relationships and maintain client accounts. Prior to joining Rand & Associates, she spent four years at Howe Barnes, Hoefer & Arnett and Raymond James where she was responsible for daily account maintenance and client support. She began her career at Pekin, Singer and Strauss Asset Management in Chicago, where she managed the trading desk and assisted the operations department. Elana graduated with a BS in Finance from Chicago's DePaul University. Outside the office, Elana devotes her life to learning an obscure Greek instrument, the lyra with sympathetic strings, which takes her on study trips to the other side of the world on a regular basis.
MELISSA REYES implements and maintains new technologies for Rand & Associates. Prior to joining the firm, she was the junior Salesforce Administrator and IT Support Administrator for Computer Market Research. Melissa graduated from San Francisco State University and received a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems. When Melissa is not in the office, she likes to run, lift weights, hike and eat ramen. If she's reading, it's usually some type of inspirational book. And, if she has her earbuds on, she's either listening to Drake or a podcast featuring Tony Robbins.
SANDI NEWTON has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. In her previous position at Garland Investment Management, Sandi was responsible for client service and support, trading, account reconciliation, performance reporting and compliance. She began her career at Belden and Associates Investment Counsel, where as Operation's Manager she was in charge of trading, data input and report generation. She received her BS in Finance from San Francisco State University. Sandi loves to haunt thrift and antique stores looking for treasures and giving old things new purpose.
